Sholto is the Executive Head of Research, Project Development as well as Fund of Funds for the Public Investment Corporation (PIC), Africa’s largest Asset manager.
Sholto has over 10 years’ experience in financial services. In his current role Sholto leads a team of investment professionals who are tasked with conducting research and identifying long term structural themes. These inform the institution’s medium to long-term investment strategy as well as tactical asset allocation at the combined listed and unlisted level for the various clients’ portfolios. Furthermore he is responsible for the institution’s fund of funds proposition which is aimed at allocating capital to external managers on the unlisted portfolio. This is aimed at providing an avenue for advancing the PIC’s investment strategy as well as contributing to the transformation of the asset management industry, specifically private equity.
Prior to the PIC Sholto was portfolio manager and Head of Mining at STANLIB Asset Management as well as Momentum Asset Management, where he was part of the 3 year raging bull award winning team for the resources portfolio. Sholto has a BSc in Chemistry from UCT, MSc in Engineering from WITS, as well as an MBA from GIBS.
